Fool’s Day 2022

A call was finally made to Lincoln Financial, the insurance company that Aunty Lyn contracted with for the life policy. Well, the policy was actually an annuity. The amount in question was … well, the equivalent of 55 months of rent at the current rate at the “old folks home” in Waikiki. Not exactly “chump change.” And, there are least 12 cousins named in the policy as well. Of course, the claim cannot be processed without a copy of the death certificate and other information. So, the process to obtain all of that data will commence soon. There is about a year of time to accomplish the tasks and file the claim.

The alleged passing of Aunty Lyn (no obituary has been discovered yet) has opened the floodgates of memories. Moms had asked Aunty Lyn to assist in the move to Cali and Convalescent City 50 years ago. There has always been much afterthought about whether the decision was a good one. The adventures in Cali, in retrospect, was a waste of 27 years. There’s really no other way to summarize the latter.

Since today is Fool’s Day, a discussion about the face mask farce in Hawai’i could easily have been pursued. Or, the on-going charade of “super-duper corona,” the bioweapon “vaccines,” or the Ukraine “crisis” would have been equally likely candidates. Rather, quiet contemplation of personal foolishness over a lifetime is the best option.

Addendum: The reason that an obituary or notice for Aunty Lyn was not posted anywhere may have a simple explanation. Aunty Lyn was single and had no offspring. There are some relatives there in Cali, another aunt and two cousins. Most likely, the cousins could be handling the estate.

Miscellany: The plan to resume the dining out experience has been postponed, thanks to an unexpected extension of the Subway® discounts. Otherwise, various preferred food products have been difficult to locate with actual stock being conspicuously absent for weeks. Substitutions, often of poorer quality, have been required.
