General Noriega Day 2022

General Noriega

A terse notice appeared in the elevator of the “old folks home” in Waikiki on Tuesday announcing that Randi is no longer the resident manager. Lots of personnel changes have occurred. Kiana, the successor to Slippery Sy (the so-called “property administrative assistant”), mysteriously became non-existent about four months ago. Now, there’s a new person in that position. Something is afoot. Perhaps the sordid coverage in Notes during the Summer of last year could be a clue. Really, who cares anyway? Good riddance to all of them!

On Thursday, one of the guys at the front desk at the gym relayed a phone message that the sister-in-law had left. Apparently, an old friend John was attempting to make contact. The number in the message was submitted for reverse lookup. The result indicated that, EL John, an old friend from the university days back in Convalescent City was the individual in question. An attempt at contact will be made soon. The sister-in-law also indicated that moms will turning 100 years of age in just a few days.

There was some contemplation about scheduling a trip to Hawai’i Kai to visit moms, but that was overruled. The assumption is that the bro’s family (including moms) is fully “vaccinated.” No doubt, there will be some kind of “vaccine passport” requirement in place, as is the case with all members of the Church of Comirnaty. So the effort is just not worth anything. Last in-person contact was 2.25 years ago (as detailed in Notes).

A couple of months ago, one of the guys at the front desk of the gym mentioned that there was another member there with the same surname. Since that particular surname is limited to one family in the entirety of empire, the assumption was that the person in question was probably a cousin. Turns out that the person is pops’ second wife. She had moved here from the Big Island many years ago. Prior to that, the last contact was when pops had scheduled surgery for cancer and ended up deceased (as detailed in the legacy journal). That was about 22 years ago.

The weather has been extremely favorable for several weeks now. The highlight of the day is coffee time in the outdoor dining area across Tamarind Park. Prior to the “super-duper corona” plan-demic, the area was always crowded with people. Now, there may be one or two other people. This is now the only enjoyable part of the entire day. So, it is fully relished.

In honor of General Noriega, the complimentary supply of fast antigen tests is being donated one-at-a-time to the community table in the “old folks home” in Waikiki. A new supply is coming soon courtesy “Joe Headroom.” The tests are a farce anyway.

Addendum: Be sure to download and read the entire essential Fascist library! Also, view all the timely video interviews featured in Notes.

Miscellany: The Humana® Medicare Advantage plan has provided some nice perks. This year, a $110 Walmart® gift certificate was earned for gym workouts. And, a card was just received that allows up to $200 in OTC medical and dental product purchases (for the year) at drug stores and pharmacies. Too bad that actual medical care must now be avoided at all costs.
